Caledonian Canal

Looking up the River Ness
Fort Augustus is the town at the bottom end of Loch Ness, where the river Ness enters the Loch.

It's a picturesque town with the Caledonian canal passing right through the centre, lined with cafes, pubs, shops and a free information centre about the history of the canal.

If you're spending a day doing a complete loop of Loch Ness then Fort Augustus is a nice place to stop.
